The Colors of Josef Albers

This project emerged from a personal study of shapes, forms, and the emotional resonance of color. Inspired by Josef Albers’ Homage to the Square, the design challenges the rigid geometry and muted palettes of typical New York apartments, offering instead a spatial escape into nature. Curved glass windows invite the outdoors in, while bold interior finishes—shocking blue countertops, lavender lime-wash walls, and rich green textiles—create a layered dialogue between natural hues and expressive color theory. The space is divided not by walls, but by chromatic zones, each contributing to a cohesive open plan where furniture placement and proportion reinforce spatial harmony.
